Let’s dive into some social media news - it’s been a busy week!

Your social media news roundup 📱⤵️

🤟 Facebook is on a mission to attract more young users. With the US and Canada reporting its fifth quarter of growth among young monthly active users, the platform has said that Marketplace, Reels, Groups and Dating have all played their part in getting more young people to the app.

✅ You can try Meta Verified with a 14-day money-back guarantee. This will give you a blue tick, more account support and other features for $14.99 per month. But if you’re not truly satisfied with your subscription, you can get your money back within the fortnight!

🇺🇸 TikTok is working on a US-only in-feed algorithm for 170m users - one of the ways the platform is negotiating to stay in operation in the US.

💬 DM streaks might be coming to TikTok. Just like Snapchat streaks, users will need to send a message to each other consecutively for three days to activate the streak, and then continue messaging back and forth every day to watch the streak number go up.

🎥 Video ads may be coming to your main Instagram feed… And you won’t be able to skip them!

🔗 LinkedIn is changing the way links are viewed on the platform. If you post a link in an organic post, the preview image will now be a lot smaller to get people to stay on the app.

We all do this, right?! 😆

She’s not wrong 😅

It’s a skill 👀

🍔 McDonald’s Father’s Day campaign

As Father’s Day is on the horizon, I thought I’d share one of my all-time favorite ads from this holiday.

It’s got to be this one from McDonald’s!

McDonald’s made the top of a burger bun look like a balding dad’s head to wish everyone a Happy Father’s Day.

Simple, effective and funny!

🗑️ How Glad is taking us back to the 00s

Glad has launched a new product line of scented trash bags with a new campaign created by FCB Chicago - ‘The Scent Experience’.

The new trash bags will be scented with Pine Sol, Gain and Febreze.

And the campaign looks to attract a millennial audience by throwing it back to the 90s/00s.

The social media, TV, print, OOH and in-store ads have an NSYNC/TLC music video vibe to try and target the millennials and get them talking about a rather mundane subject - trash - and the products.
