Reposts are quietly costing your clients reach

What’s New in the Social Media World

Instagram is punishing reposts. Meta is now using AI to detect aggregated and re-uploaded videos, quietly throttling their reach while original posts get up to 3x more distribution.

TikTok launched Agentic Hub. Marketers can now hand campaign creation, optimization, and busywork to AI agents built right into Ads Manager. Less clicking, more approving.

LinkedIn added a “Seems like AI slop” button. Every post now has a one-tap report for AI slop, and flagged posts get their reach quietly throttled. It matters: detection firm Pangram says over 40% of long-form LinkedIn posts are fully AI-generated.

đź‘‹ Hey there,

Be honest. How many times this month did you take one client’s Reel, re-upload it, and call it “content for another account”?

We all do it. Batching is how agencies survive. But this month Instagram put a price on it, and the price is reach. Original posts are now getting up to 3x the distribution of anything the algorithm flags as recycled. And LinkedIn just handed users a button to bury AI slop. The message from every platform is the same: original wins.

Here’s how I’d approach it ⬇️

1. Make one idea, then make it native

One idea can still feed five platforms. The trick is that each version has to be built for its home, not copy-pasted into it. Re-film the hook. Re-cut the aspect ratio. Rewrite the caption. Same message, different asset.

2. Kill the watermark habit

The fastest way to get flagged as unoriginal is a competitor’s watermark or an obvious cross-post. Pull source clips clean, or shoot your own. A five-second reshoot beats a 50% reach cut every time.

3. Lead with saves and shares

The 2026 algorithm rewards content people keep and send, not just tap. Build one “save-worthy” moment into every post - a checklist, a before/after, a number. That signal now outweighs the like count.

4. Audit before you scale

Before you add a sixth platform to a client’s plan, check what’s already being recycled. Trimming three reposted posts often lifts reach more than three new ones.

5. The owner’s angle

“Original content” just moved from a vague promise to a measurable line item. That’s a pricing opportunity. If native, original assets now earn 3x the reach, then a package built on originals is worth more than one built on recycled clips — and you can say so on the invoice. Reframe your “posts per month” tiers as “original assets per platform,” and the value stops being a race to the bottom.

AI Tip of the week

Turning one idea into five original, platform-native posts - without triggering the repost filter, is a specific skill. Here’s a simple hack ⬇️

Take this core idea: [paste your one content idea]. Rewrite it as 5 platform-native posts for Instagram Reels, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and X. For each one: give me a distinct hook written for that platform’s audience, the ideal length and format, a caption in the platform’s voice, and one built-in “save or share” moment. Do NOT reuse the same wording across platforms, each should read as original content, not a cross-post. My audience is [describe your ICP].
