Everyone is a victim of marketing 😆

Why 🥲

🧢 Why Urban Outfitters US is increasing its spending on influencers

Urban Outfitters is ramping up its investment in influencers by 50% this year to better connect with Gen Z consumers through its new back-to-school campaign, Shift Happens.

This campaign features influencers like designer Kai, artist Anya, floral designer Rabab, photographer Morgan Maher and R&B singer Tinashe.

And it’s all about creating deeper connections with the brand’s community rather than traditional performance media - the brand wants to focus on collaborating with inspiring figures to who the Gen-Z audience relates. In doing so, Urban Outfitters wants to address the burnout concerns of its consumers by balancing creativity, productivity, and self-care.

The Shift Happens campaign will run through Ubran Outfitters’ marketing, social and retail channels to showcase its clothing and homeware products.

Pinterest will also play a huge part. The influencers will curate boards highlighting the brand’s products that are relevant to significant life transitions such as back to school.

It comes on the back of Fiscal 2024 seeing record sales ($5.15 BILLION!) for Urban Outfitters’ parent company.

🇸🇪 IKEA’s 3D billboard in Times Square

IKEA US has made a bold statement in New York City’s Times Square with a gigantic 3D billboard.

The billboard is over 27 feet in the air on the corner of 47th Street and 7th Avenue and displays a captivating 15-minute looped video of an IKEA bedroom transitioning from day to night.

The company, alongside Oglivy, is also launching a TV campaign called ‘The Place to Be’ that will show product and design inspiration for bedrooms.

It’s all about creating a safe, comfortable space, but taps into the millennial phenomenon of ‘JOMO’ (the Joy of Missing Out) - a play on ‘FOMO’ (the Fear of Missing Out) - that suggests you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else than in the comfort of your IKEA-furnished bedroom.

Love it 👏
